Bubblegum Love

when sweat gathers between our enclosed palms fingers entwined i feel the gravity change

earth is light years away and her face is as bright as all of jupiter’s moons

i’m years away but we’re sat together

we share the same nose, the taste of bubblegum love as soft as her cheeks

though her eyes are prettier than mine

i would never have said that unless they were hers

she

us

here

with me

what else would align

perhaps i’m but a year older

she doesn’t believe that

the moon couldn’t have risen and set and risen

millions of times between us

i look to her and watch the world spill out like a bag of marbles

the missing came

like love had come

and at the edge of the world two girls sat staring into each other’s eyes

seeing someone else in its reflection
