Barefoot in the Grass

I'm awakened

by the way a ray of sunlight glistens through the waves above me.

I'm drowning.

The weight of the world

keeping its grip

firm

as I'm anchored into the

depths of the great below.

My mom would tell me to swim

to empty yourself like a balloon to float

But I'm still my father's daughter

and so I stay.

Time barefoot in the grass

in the sun in the sand

is lost

lost

lost

yet I put on a smile

for tomorrow

I will float anew.
